York County Bowmen Bowhunter Award

The following may be of interest to Bowhunters at York County Bowmen. Fall weather means the start of the bowhunting season for moose, deer and turkey in Ontario. The bear hunting season has already been open for a number of weeks. If you are successful, send me a picture and I will include your name in the 2012 YCB Bowhunter Award competition. Prizes will be awarded to the top five finishers. The winner's name will engraved on a Bowhunter Award plaque in the YCB clubhouse

MOOSE: 6 Points

DEER: Buck 5 Points, Doe 4 Points

TURKEY Spring or Fall: Tom 5 Points, Jake 4 Points, Fall Hen 2 Points

BEAR: 4 Points

Special Conditions:

  • All entries must be received no later than Jan. 1, 2013 to be valid for 2012 Bowhunter Award Plaque
  • Archery Equipment: Longbows, Compounds or Crossbows only
  • Hunting Area: Province of Ontario Only
  • No Outfitters ( Unfair advantage to those who cannot afford outfitters)
  • No points for elk yet as tags are too limited in quantity
  • Tie for Moose, Deer and Bear: P&Y Measurements
  • Tie for Turkey: Beard Measurement

YCB Bowhunter Arrows Turkey on Opening Weekend


David Zante, already had bow hunting success in 2012 ! He arrowed a gobbler at 7 yards with his 60 lb compound bow. The turkey came in to his turkey call at 6:20 AM in the morning on April 29th, 2012 David has bow hunted turkeys for 4 years.
